Statement of responsibility: Edited by Mrs. Shelley.
Content: Pforzheimer copy: Revised press proof copy; with manuscript corrections and alterations by several correctors, including Mary Shelley. Bound up with similar proof copies for Samuel Rogers's Poems, 1839 and Italy, 1840 and for Joseph Ritson's Robin Hood. Several of the signatures are revised by Mary Shelley, and these include, beside corrections and alterations, some additional stanzas omitted from the 4 v. 1839 ed. (cf. Postscript to editor's preface; cf. also MWS 360/PBS 216). Sig. X is not in final form. -- The pages have running heads and folios but do not include the rule borders that box in each text page in the published book; the first pages of most signatures are marked "Press revise" (or the equivalent); some are initialed; some are noted as "Gauged."

Some of the MS text has been lost at the edges and gutters by trimming and by sewing.
