Description
Ceremony for the presentation of the 1966 Dance Magazine awards, recorded on March 27, 1967 at the New York Athletic Club, New York (N.Y.). The recording includes remarks by Lydia Joel, Harold Taylor, Richard Rosen, José de la Torre Bueno (on behalf of award recipient Wesleyan University Press), Pamela Ilott, Carmen de Lavallade (award recipient), Charles Frankel, Sol Hurok (award recipient), and Rudolf Orthwine. Streaming audio file 1 (approximately 43 minutes). Lydia Joel's introductory remarks; Harold Taylor's speech including his introduction of Richard Rosen; Richard Rosen's remarks (on behalf of Mayor John V. Lindsay and New York City); Harold Taylor speaks about Wesleyan University Press and presents the University's award to José de la Torre Bueno; De la Torre's acceptance speech; Taylor introduces Pamela Ilott; Ilott speaks about Carmen de Lavallade and presents her with her award; De Lavallade's acceptance speech. Streaming audio file 2 (approximately 19 minutes). Harold Taylor reads aloud a letter from Vice President Hubert H.
