Oil paintings owned, or formerly owned, by the New York Public Library. These works include portraits of members of the Astor and Lenox families, by artists such as Gilbert Stuart (1755-1828), John Wesley Jarvis (1780-1840), and John Trumbull (1756-1843). The paintings hang in various locations in the library, and some are on view in the Edna Barnes Salomon Room in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on Fifth Avenue.
