Content: Marcus Antonius was a Roman orator and general. After the murder of Caesar Antonius joined an alliance with Octavian and Marcus Aemilius Lepidus. This became known as the Second Triumvirate. Political disagreements esculated and civil war broke out. The navy of Antony and Cleopatra was defeated by Octavian at the Battle of Actium in 31 B.C. Marcus Antonius committed suicide in Egypt.
