The sound quality is good overall. At times the recording is marred by static but the speakers' voices are clear and easily audible.
Description
Ceremony for the presentation of the 1967 Dance Magazine awards, recorded on April 22, 1968 at the Plaza Hotel, New York (N.Y.). The recording includes remarks by Lydia Joel, Rudolf Orthwine, Gower Champion, Alwin Nikolais (award recipient), Anna Sokolow, Eugene Loring (award recipient), Edward Villella, and Violette Verdy (award recipient). Streaming audio file 1 (approximately 30 minutes). Lydia Joel's and Rudolf Orthwine's introductory remarks including Lydia Joel's introduction of Gower Champion; Gower Champion speaks about Alwin Nikolais and presents him with the award; Alwin Nikolais' acceptance speech; Lydia Joel introduces Anna Sokolow; Anna Sokolow speaks about Eugene Loring and presents him with the award; Eugene Loring's acceptance speech [ends abruptly but continues on streaming audio file 2].
