Acquisition: Copy in *KF 1919 17-11: American Library Association Library War Service (bookplate, with reduced version of the front cover; lettering: "War Service Library. Books are provided by the people of the United States through the American Library Association for the use of soldiers and sailors"; American Library Association War Service book card, unmarked, inserted in diagonal card holder sleeve mounted on back pastedown). NN
Ownership: Publisher's dark brown ribbed cloth, lettered in yellow. Mounted on front cover is a full-page color illustration, lettered with title and name of author; signed "F" (C.B. Falls). It depicts a soldier carrying a stack of books. The image originated as a poster commissioned by the Library War Service of the American Library Association, with lettering "Books wanted for our men in camp and 'over there.' Take your gifts to the public library." It was also used as a bookplate by the Library War Service.
