Description
Part 1 (00-28:22 minutes). Leida Snow interviews Peter Nichols, an English writer of stage plays, film and television, during his visit to New York due to the production of his play "A day in the death of Joe Egg" on Broadway in 1985. Nichols talks about theatrical life in the United States and Europe in the 1980's, and compares the British West End with Broadway theaters financial situation. He also speaks about the autobiographical background of many of his plays, such as "A day in the death of Joe Egg," which is based on Nichols own experiences of raising a handicapped child. Part 1 (28:23-47:07 minutes) and Part 2 include excerpts from piano rehearsal of Verdi's Requiem.
